The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has notified members of the air cargo community involved in screening cargo that it has finalized updates to the Standard Screening Procedures for Air Cargo—U.S. Locations (SSPAC), which is incorporated by reference into the Certified Cargo Screening Standard Security Program (CCSSSP). The specific changes are classified as Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and cannot be shared in this article, but generally they address enhanced screening procedures for certain categories cargo, the process for returning shipments to customers, and arrangements with Certified Cargo Screening Facilities-Canine (CCSF-K9s). For more detail, clients are advised to review TSA’s notification of the changes recently posted to the Indirect Air Carrier Management System (IACMS). The changes go into effect on September 7, 2026. Clients that screen cargo under the CCSSSP are encouraged to analyze the potential impact on their operations, including updates to their written notifications to Authorized Representatives (ARs) conducting screening work.
