TSA Proposing to Update Cargo-Screening Security Programs

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has notified members of the air-cargo community that it intends to update its cargo-screening security programs to address various regulatory and operational issues. The updates will impact the Certified Cargo Screening Standard Security Program and the Standard Screening Procedures for Air Cargo for U.S. Locations. The proposed changes are classified as Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and cannot be shared in this article, but impacted clients are advised to review TSA’s notification of the changes posted to the Indirect Air Carrier Management System. The comment period is open through June 30. Members of the air-forwarding and cargo-screening communities are encouraged to submit comments to the agency identifying concerns, questions, and requests for clarification regarding the proposed changes.
