SCOPELITIS ANNOUNCES THE HIRING OF LANDSTAR VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL COUNSEL
Indianapolis, IN & Washington D.C.—Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, P.C., the nation’s premier full-service transportation law firm, announced today that Michael K. Kneller will be joining the firm as a partner in its Washington D.C. office on June 1, 2026. Landstar System, Inc. announced yesterday that Kneller would be ending his 21-year employment as its Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary on May 8, 2026, to join Scopelitis.
Landstar’s President and CEO Frank Lonegro stated, “The Company will miss Mike’s leadership and camaraderie, but we are delighted that Mike has chosen to join the Scopelitis Firm given its long and deep history as a trusted advisor to Landstar.”
Scopelitis President and Managing Partner Gregory M. Feary commented, “Mike’s deep experience in transportation law at one of America’s most respected and successful transportation companies will help keep the Firm moving forward as the preeminent transportation law firm.”
Kneller thanked his numerous colleagues at Landstar, past and present, for the many years of professional challenges and rewards, as well as the many friendships developed over his tenure. “Thankfully, I look forward to continuing to work with the great people at Landstar, as my career arcs back into private practice as a partner with an outstanding firm,” remarked Kneller.
Prior to joining Landstar in 2005, Kneller practiced corporate law with Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP. Throughout his time at Landstar, Mike was responsible for all legal matters involving the Company’s business and engaged in a wide range of legal and business endeavors ranging from business model strategy and execution, corporate governance, acquisitions and divestitures, public disclosure and corporate communications, regulatory and compliance matters, corporate finance, myriad commercial matters, risk management, corporate sustainability, human resources and numerous commercial and class action litigations. Landstar’s extremely successful agent-based, asset-light transportation model is seen as the gold standard in truckload transportation.
“Mike brings with him a set of legal skills and insight that will instantly make him a key contributor at Scopelitis,” said Feary.
