Attention: Entry Level Driver Training Providers
FMCSA notified approximately 4,500 Entry Level Driver Training Providers that they are subject to investigation or otherwise subject to inactivation of their accounts based on inactivity. These notices were distributed via email based on information contained in the Training Provider Registry and are in addition to the over 3,000 notices of removal previously issued.
If you receive one of these notices, do NOT ignore it. Ignoring it will result in further action to remove the provider from the TPR or inactivation in the TPR.
Responding to the request to produce records contained in the notice will require significant time and effort and must occur within a very short time frame. The Agency has requested all documents required under 49 CFR 380.725 and information relating to vehicles used for behind-the-wheel training. Many on-site investigations are scheduled for as early as the week of December 8th.
Given the large number of notices issued, FMCSA may not be able to respond to your questions immediately but there is an email address on the notices where you can send questions. Additionally, if you are identified for an on-site review you should receive follow-up contact from an FMCSA investigator to identify a date for the investigation. In the meantime, you can prepare for the investigation by identifying and organizing your records, reviewing your data in the TPR, verifying your training processes comply with federal requirements, and preparing your team to respond to questions about them.
Remember, an investigator should always show you their credentials before conducting the on-site investigation.
If you have questions, you can reach out to Sue Lawless, Tim Wiseman, Chris Eckhart, or Brigitte Collier.
