ATA Selects Scopelitis Partner Chris Eckhart for 2024 LEAD Program

American Trucking Associations (ATA) recently announced its 11th Lead ATA class. Scopelitis Partner Chris Eckhart was among the 15 up-and-coming industry leaders selected. LEAD is the premier leadership development program for transportation industry professionals.

“Scopelitis has long been an active supporter of ATA. For ATA to choose Chris from among hundreds of applicants is an honor, both for the Firm and for one of our most talented emerging leaders,” said Scopelitis President & Managing Partner Greg Feary. “That he was added to a shortlist of ATA Allied Members – the first from a law firm – to participate in the program makes this all the more meaningful.”

Since 1933, trucking executives across the country have joined the ATA to represent the trucking industry to lawmakers and regulators and enhance their companies’ efficiency and profitability. ATA began the LEAD ATA program because, as is the case in nearly every industry, a new generation of leaders is needed to face tomorrow’s challenges. ATA designed LEAD to equip young professionals with the necessary tools, knowledge, and resources to become effective leaders in a dynamic field. Each class brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds, representing various industry careers, regions, and fleet sizes. Programming covers a wide range of topics, including industry trends and best practices, leadership development, communication skills, regulatory and legislative processes, and how to advocate for policies that support the future of the industry.

“Chris’ experience working with motor carrier clients to address complex problems will bring a lot to the table during 2024 LEAD discussions, “said Scopelitis Partner Prasad Sharma, who nominated Eckhart for the program. “I can attest to his sharp, analytical mind and, more importantly, the easy nature with which he approaches learning and sharing will make the 2024 class stronger, as well as our Firm.”

The group’s first meeting took place during ATA’s 2023 Management Conference and Exhibition in Austin, Texas, in October. ATA will host the class at ATA headquarters in Washington, D.C., for their next meeting.
