Jeffrey Jackson’s transportation law practice is focused on counseling clients on all manners of transportation-related transactional issues and projects. His work includes advising on:
- Transportation and logistics-related operations structure (e.g., questions related to transportation organizations’ day-to-day operations and entity structure guidance on restructuring for operational and asset protection purposes as well as the use of intercompany arrangements to preserve the corporate separateness and form of related entities, etc.)
- Contract drafting/reviews/negotiating with a specific focus on transportation and logistics-related contracts of all kinds
- Transportation regulatory compliance (e.g., advising clients on federal and state regulatory concerns, especially concerning transportation entity licensing, operating authorities, and general transportation operations compliance obligations.
- Third-party logistics (3PL) issues
- Independent contractor/owner-operator arrangements
- Lease/purchase and lease-back programs and arrangements
- Challenges to independent contractor classification
- Independent contractor reclassification risk mitigation
