Jared Kramer’s practice focuses on defending transportation companies in class actions and complex litigation pending in federal and state courts. He regularly represents clients in wage and hour class and collective actions and class actions alleging violation of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
Prior to joining Scopelitis, Mr. Kramer worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where he was a Criminal Court Supervisor, overseeing the work of fourteen other prosecutors in the office’s trial division. As a prosecutor, he handled all aspects of the investigation and litigation of criminal cases and tried several bench and jury trials.
While in law school, he served on the editorial board of the New York Law School Law Review as an Articles Editor, worked as a judicial intern for U.S. District Court Judge Paul Crotty in the Southern District of New York, was a Teaching Fellow for the school’s Academic Success Program, a member of the prosecution clinic at the Manhattan DA’s Office, and a recipient of the school’s merit-based, full tuition John Marshall Harlan Scholarship.

Crash Course on Class and Collective Litigation
This panel discussed several problems motor carriers face in dealing with class and collective action lawsuits and how best to avoid them.
Using federal and state laws, plaintiffs’ lawyers sue carriers for, among other things, minimum wage violations, underpayment of wages, improper wage deductions, expense reimbursements, and
privacy violations. Carriers can implement policies and take other actions to avoid the crashes, potholes, and detours litigation causes.
