Chip Andrewscavage works in the Firm’s class action defense and complex litigation practice. His primary focus is representing individual and corporate clients in complex litigation matters, class actions, government enforcement actions, labor and employment litigation, and general business litigation. Andrewscavage has extensive experience litigating matters in state and federal courts throughout the nation and has represented various transportation companies in the logistics, motor carrier, courier, brokerage, and warehousing segments in cases involving Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions or state wage-and-hour law class actions.
He also advises clients on contract, privacy, and employment issues, along with implementation of best practices to minimize litigation risks and manage potential liability. Andrewscavage’s experience includes:
- Defending transportation companies against class actions asserting driver misclassification and state wage law violations
- Compelling individual arbitration of cases brought as class or collective actions
- Representing clients in disputes regarding alleged misclassification of dispatchers, operations supervisors, logistics coordinators, restaurant workers, and warehouse managers as exempt from state and federal overtime laws
- Federal court trial and appellate arguments on a variety of transportation industry legal issues
- Counseling on Illinois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act and other state privacy laws

Crash Course on Class and Collective Litigation
This panel discussed several problems motor carriers face in dealing with class and collective action lawsuits and how best to avoid them.
Using federal and state laws, plaintiffs’ lawyers sue carriers for, among other things, minimum wage violations, underpayment of wages, improper wage deductions, expense reimbursements, and
privacy violations. Carriers can implement policies and take other actions to avoid the crashes, potholes, and detours litigation causes.
