Amanda M. Daoud is a litigation attorney in the Indianapolis office of Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, P.C.
She routinely assists freight brokers in transportation-related matters, defending them in wrongful-death and highway-accident claims and monitoring cases nationwide involving the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act (FAAAA) and federal preemption. Amanda also handles cargo-claim disputes, collection matters, and cargo-theft cases, pursuing pre-suit settlements when possible and pursuing litigation when required.
Amanda regularly defends motor carriers and insurers in state and federal trial court litigation for highway accident claims, including catastrophic injuries and wrongful death, assisting clients from pre-suit investigation through trial.
In addition to her client work, Amanda helps run the firm’s summer associate program, providing mentorship and guiding associates in learning about the firm’s practice groups.
Amanda earned her J.D. from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where she served as Associate Editor of the Jeffrey S. Moorad Sports Law Journal and authored a published article analyzing NCAA policies and legal arguments regarding student-athletes’ participation in gambling, exploring regulatory implications and stakeholder influence on collegiate sports governance. During law school, she also served as a summer associate and summer clerk with Scopelitis, a law clerk in the legal department of a national trucking company, a legal extern with the United States Attorney’s Office, and an intern for Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, prior to accepting a full-time position with the firm. She graduated summa cum laude from The University of Alabama with a B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration and is admitted to practice in Indiana, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, and Texas.
